Seed Stitch Scarf

Knitting is not just a hobby, it’s a form of creative expression. And what better way to showcase your creativity than by knitting your own scarf? In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of knitting a beautiful seed stitch scarf. The seed stitch is a classic pattern that creates a textured fabric, perfect for keeping you warm during the chilly winter months, while being an easy pattern that is simple and repeatable. What I love most about this knit pattern is the ease of the pattern and the textured look you get at the end. So grab your knitting needles and let’s get started!

Materials:

  • Knitting needles, size 8
  • Worcested weight yarn (any kind or color)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

The directions needed for this pattern are short and simple! Follow these steps to get started:

  1. We will be using the long-tail method for our cast on. Make a slip knot about 18″ from the end of your yarn.
  2. Cast on 31 stitches
  3. Row 1 (Right side): Knit (K) 1, purl (P) 1, K1 P1 repeat ending with a K1.
  4. Row 2 (Wrong side): P1, K1 repeat ending with a P1.
  5. Keep repeating these two rows until the entire scarf as reached your desired length. I usually make my scarves about 5′ 6″ long.
  6. Cast off: K1, P1, then while the yarn is still in the front from the purl stitch, grab the stitch that is further back with working needle and bring the stitch over the second one and drop it. There should be one stitch left on the needle. Bring your yarn to the back, K1, then with the yarn in the back grab the stitch that is further back and bring it up and over the closer stitch. Keep repeating this pattern still following the K1, P1 pattern until there is one stitch left. Pull remaining yarn through that loop and tie off.
  7. Weave in your ends.

Knitting a seed stitch scarf is a rewarding and enjoyable project that allows you to showcase your knitting skills. The seed stitch pattern creates a beautiful texture that will keep you warm and stylish. So grab your materials, follow the step-by-step guide, and start knitting your own seed stitch scarf today!
