Picking up a new hobby can be time consuming. I know I like to stick with little projects that won’t take too much time, but where I can see the results by the end. When it comes to crocheting, there are many project ideas out there, but when you are first looking it could seem like too many options.
Here, I have created a quick and easy crochet project for beginners. Although I like to see results quickly, this often means ending up with a smaller project, but with this easy double crochet scarf, you end up with a beautiful looking scarf in no time at all. Once you learn the one stitch to create this look, you could have the whole thing done in an afternoon, or a weekend – depending on how much time you spend on this at once.
For this scarf, you’ll only need a few things:
- 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (4)
- Crochet Hook “I”
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
The directions for this is also pretty simple.
- Chain (ch) 207
- Double crochet (dc) into the 3rd ch from the hook. Dc into each ch for the remainder of the row (204 stitches). Ch 2 and turn work.
- Dc into each stitch. Ch 2 and turn work.
- Repeat step 3 until you have 10 rows. Cut yarn (if any remaining) and pull through final loop on hook. Tie off, and weave in your ends.
That’s really it! A very easy crochet scarf for anyone just starting out. If it’s easier to see how this scarf was made, you can follow along below. There’s a video where I go step by step to create this scarf.
