Half-Ribbed Crochet Scarf

When looking for something a little different than your simple single crochet scarf, the Partial Ribbed Scarf adds that something extra. This is a pattern that is worked over four repeating rows, three of which are the same. While it is not reversible, it still makes for a cute scarf that doesn’t take a long time to crochet together, and with the holidays right around the corner, we are all looking for those last minute projects, right?

The scarf can be made in any yarn weight, width, and length. The written pattern will follow the scarf being made in the video at the end, but adjustments can be made to your specifications.

For mine, I used a worsted weight yarn with an I crochet hook, as advised by the label on the skein (if you decide to use a different size yarn, I would use the hook size recommended on the label). You will also need a pair of scissors, and a tapestry needle.

The directions:

  1. Chain 25
  2. Row 1: Single crochet into the second chain from the hook, then continue single crocheting until the end of row.
  3. Row 2: Chain 1, turn work, single crochet into each stitch.
  4. Row 3: Chain 1, turn work, single crochet into each stitch.
  5. Row 4: Chain 1, turn work, single crochet into the back loops only, single crochet normally in turning stitch from previous row
  6. Repeat row 2 three times, then row 4 once
  7. Once you have reached the scarf length you like, repeat Row 2 three times, then cut yarn from skein, and weave in your ends.

To follow along visually, I have also created a video that takes you step by step through the directions:
