Welcome back! This week we’re going to be learning how to crochet the moss scarf using Lion Brand’s Mandela yarn. Is it just me, or are all of these yarn colors amazing? I find myself going out and buying a skein every time I’m in the store because there’s just so many different variations, and I feel as though there’s so many different patterns we can use with them. So, here’s my take on one of those options, which is another personal favorite of mine when crocheting, the moss stitch.
I love how the one row joins the row below it to create a stitch that flows so well. I think the overall look of this type of crochet stitch is simple, yet gives a complex look.
To create this scarf you will need:
- 1 skein of Lion Brand’s mandela skein (any kind of skein that creates a flow of colors would do the trick as well)
- I or H crochet hook (depending on how loose or tight you prefer the rows to be)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
The pattern itself doesn’t require too much, once you get past the foundation row, each row is the same.
- Chain 40
- Single crochet (sc) into the 2nd chain from the hook
- *Chain (ch) 1, skip next space, sc into next chain* repeat until end of row
- Chain 2, *sc into previous ch 1 space, ch 1* (With each chain 1, skip a space)
- Repeat #4 until skein runs out of yarn (on complete row)
- Tie off, and weave in ends
It’s really that simple. I hope you all enjoy this scarf pattern, and for a video tutorial of the steps, my YouTube channel has the step-by-step video below:
