Pebbled Headband

Looking for a quick and cute knit project this month? The Pebbled Headband, also called the Seed Stitch headband, is the perfect blend of adorable, fast, and convenient. This project takes only a few hours to knit up, can use whatever left over yarn you have lying around, and with only one simple step, is an easy one to knit on autopilot!

This has been one of my favorites to create on the go, or as a quick, last second gift for a friend. If you are new to knitting, this makes a great first project because you’ll quickly get the hang of two very common stitches, and it won’t take you very long to get to the end! Follow along with the pattern here, or through the video at the end so you can see how the headband is made!

This pattern is adjustable, if you prefer it to be thicker or thinner, just adjust the number of stitches you cast on in the beginning. I prefer to use odd numbers when working in seed stitch because every row will start with a knit stitch, making it so you don’t have to remember which row you left off on if you put the project down.

What you’ll need:

  • Any worsted weight yarn
  • Size 8 knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

The pattern:

  1. Cast on 13 stitches
  2. For all rows: *Knit 1, Purl 1* repeat ending with Knit 1
  3. Cast off and sew ends together.

Yeah, it’s that easy. Just keep repeating the first row for every single row until the whole piece is about 22″ or long enough to wrap around your head snuggly. For the bonus piece at the end:

  1. Cast on 7
  2. *Knit 1, Purl 1* Knit 1
  3. Cast off and sew together around the headband
