Into the Woods Scarf

Sorry for the run on scarves lately but I’m a little bit obsessed. As the weather inevitably gets colder, I start thinking more and more about what little things I can make, or projects that won’t take weeks to finish.

The Into the Woods scarf is a great scarf to crochet within a day or two and have a beautiful scarf (or gift) that looks more intricate than it actually is. This scarf is basically three different types of crochet stitching repeated over and over again. The repetitiveness helps move you along so you hardly notice how much time has passed.

So, to get started you’ll need a few things:

  • Worsted weight yarn
  • Crochet hook I/9 (5.25mm)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

To begin you will need to first make your slip knot. From there, chain (ch) 220.

  1. Row 1: single crochet (sc) into each stitch starting with the second ch from the hook
  2. Row 2: ch3, turn work. Double crochet (dc) into each stitch
  3. Row 3: ch1, turn work. sc each stitch
  4. Row 4: ch4, turn work. *dc, ch1* repeat these two until 1 from the end, dc
  5. Repeat rows 1-4 twice more (12 rows total)
  6. Repeat rows 1-3 (15 rows total)
  7. Tie off last stitch and weave in ends
